Coached Jump in Kentucky

Kentucky rewards the jumper who looks down. The Bluegrass Region rolls out in soft green swells and fenced horse country; push east and the ground crumples into the Appalachian foothills. In between run fertile river valleys and deep stretches of forest. On a clear day the Ohio River bends silver across the north and the Cumberland Plateau stacks up in the distance, a lot of country to take in over a two-minute canopy ride, and it changes with every drop zone you jump.

Newcomers start with a tandem. Harnessed to an instructor who handles the flying, you get the freefall and the canopy without the training load, and the drop zones sit within an easy drive of Louisville and Lexington. It's the low-commitment door into the sport, no ground school marathon, no gear to buy, just a briefing and a plane ride to altitude.
